WE GROW - TALENT DEVELOPMENT

TALENT DEVELOPMENT IN OUR DNA

We Connect - We Play- We Grow

Throughout our club's 100 years, Oranje-Rood has been about connection, enjoyment of play and growth.

We have translated those core values intoWe Connect-We Play-We Growand directly indicates what we stand for as a club: connection as a basis, after which growth and ambitions can be realized through fun at play.

One of these pillars - We Grow - focuses on Talent Development.

Talent development we see in two directions:

1) Development tav the game of field hockey - both individually and as a team.

2) Personal development -mental & social.

Below is more information about our talent development program.

DEVELOPMENT OF TOP FIELD HOCKEY

HC Oranje-Rood is a top club in the field hockey world. With two teams in the premier league, the goal is always to compete for playoffs and national titles. They have succeeded several times.

One of the driving forces behind these flagship teams D1 & H1 is our top youth. These junior teams (O14-1 to O18-1) all play in the highest leagues in the Netherlands. This supports the ambition of the club to compose Heren 1 and Dames 1 as much as possible with players from our own youth academy.

Through the Top Hockey Foundation, much is invested in guiding our talents from these junior teams to an opportunity to play major league field hockey.

Currently, our club has players in almost all national (youth) teams.

Our Men's flagship team includes several internationals such as Arthur de Sloover, Tijmen Reyenga & Joep de Mol, among others.

Not with the ladies at the moment, but if you watched the '22-'23 playoff final between Amsterdam & SCHC you saw many Oranje-Rood faces again; Freeke Moes, Lisa Post, Yibbi Janssen, Trijntje Beljaars, Renee van Laarhoven & Kyra Fortuin!

DEVELOPMENT OF WIDTH FIELD HOCKEY

Besides the development in top field hockey, we at HC Oranje-Rood believe that everyone who practices this beautiful sport at our club should be well supported.

And for each target group, we do so with specific guidance.

As for the Youngest Youth (4-10 years old) where a special Youngest Youth Team works under the leadership of Technical Manager YouthThijs Bams, Technical Manager of Juniors Yannick Adelaar and Technical Manager Junior Youth Fleur Croon. The team guides the children and sees to it that everyone has as much fun in field hockey as possible. Besides fun, it is also about teaching all field hockey game forms. Development of technique and motor skills are the primary goals. This starts at a very young age.

The juniors of HC Oranje-Rood are children in the O12, O14, O16 and O18 age categories as established by the KNHB.

At the age of (approximately) 10, the children start playing in an O12 (Juniors) team. Usually simultaneously with the transition to high school, children move to an O14 team, here they play for two years, then two years of O16, two years of O18, and then transition to seniors in the year they turn 18.

HC Oranje-Rood wants to create an environment for its junior members where every junior member can enjoy playing field hockey and learn the rules of field hockey. Also for this category the primary goals are, development on technique and motor skills. We have articulated them in the "3 P's"; Fun, Personal Development and Performance.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

In addition to field hockey development, HC Oranje-Rood offers tremendous opportunities for development on a social and personal level.

Of course, playing as a team is already a big part of that. But there are also many opportunities to develop yourself beyond teamwork.

Consider the following elements:

1) Giving training

Our juniors, ages 12 and up, can already give training to our Youngest Youth. They learn a lot from this!

2) Being a referee

Not always easy, and coaching is very important, but also in this area our members learn a lot about leadership by coaching competitions.

3) Volunteerism

There are many, many opportunities to develop yourself through a volunteer role. These range from a role around a team to serving on a board. And everything in between!

We have many examples of people who have developed a new social network as a result and have also learned something themselves and helped the club move forward! See here take a look at the open positions.

SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

HC Oranje-Rood has a broad Business Club where about 100 companies are represented. This ranges from our main sponsor ABN AMRO to many SMEs around Eindhoven.

There are many job openings at these companies that provide opportunities for our members.
