Extra Training February & 2nd Tournament March 8


Due to the success of our December 1 opening tournament, we as a club have decided to continue full on with this concept. So that all our members are introduced to this wonderful game!

With the help of our sponsors, we can still offer this for free for the next month.


What does it look like for the time ahead?


JUNIORS:

  • Mutual practice matches on the weekends of Feb. 8/9 - 15/16 - 22/23
  • Recommended format: 25 minutes warm-up and practice. 35-minute match with 5-minute break.
  • Each team will be scheduled. If not going to be used REMOVE.
  • The final format will follow in the club app no later than January 20. So keep a close eye on that one!
  • Game times are from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

 

YOUTH:

We are going to do 1 practice per team on Wednesday afternoons.

  • O8 on Feb. 5
  • O9 on Feb. 12
  • O10 on Feb. 19


SENIORS:

  • Our seniors will have the opportunity to self-register (as a team, or individually).
  • Games can be played on Feb. 9, 16 and 23, from 11 am to 4 pm.
  • Games are then played in 1-hour blocks against other teams/players.
  • Important to note that there is NO cost for these dates.
  • Registration form will follow asap.


TOURNAMENT MARCH 8

  • In addition, we will be hosting a 2nd tournament, on March 8. Save the Date!
  • Anyone can register for this. More information about registration & organization will come later.
  • Classification will be based on age and playing strength.


But, what is Hockey5s anyway?


Hockey5s Rules

General rules of play and safety rules Hockey 5's

- You play 5 vs. 5, including goalkeeper

- High ball rule waived for O18 and Seniors, safety premise. (O12, O14, O16 - high ball not allowed).

- Between the waist and quarter line, only low may be hit (on the board). Only from the quarter line (10 meters) may the ball be hit high (O12 must hit everything low).

- Goalkeepers are not allowed past the center line.

- All penalties not made within the defensive quarter will result in a free ball taken on the own quarter line.

- Penalties by the defending side within the defensive quarter, lead to a new penalty format (other than penalty corner/penalty ball): the double shootout;

o At inadvertentpenalties, the shoot-out is replayed. At intentionalpenalties, the shoot-out is replayed, sansdefender.

o Attackers: 2 players start with ball from the center line, they may attack by two, but may only score from the quarter line.

o Defenders: 1 goalkeeper and 1 defender start in their own goal. They may come out the moment the attackers start the shoot-out. The goalie may not come out of his goal further than the quarter line.

o All other players: start on the offensive side's back line and may immediately at the start of the shoot out taker in pursuit
